"PDCA is the painting and coatings industry's trade association, a community of professional, profitable and ethical contractors. Membership is available to contractors engaged in the coatings application industry (any and all types of paints, coatings, decorative finishes, wallcovering, and any type of surface treatment). Contractors must be licensed, registered, and insured in those states where they do business if so required by area law or regulation. Members agree to adhere to the PDCA Code of Ethics. |
"The PDCA develops standards and operating procedures for professional wall preparation, coatings application and dozens of other factors pertinent to the industry, acts as advocate for environmentally responsible behaviors, and, through its "Contractor College" program, provides contractor training in coatings technologies, safety, sound business practices and many other topics. Members who complete the prescribed course of study and meet other requirements are awarded "PDCA Accredited Contractor" status.
Surroundings by Michael is the first contractor in Minnesota to have received this designation."

About Us
Hello, I’m Michael Spellman. During 20 years as an industrial marketing analyst I observed that businesses large and small often fail due to their unwillingness or inability to focus on achieving complete customer satisfaction.
Everyone claims to listen to their customers and to deliver high quality products and services, but few actually take those words as seriously as they should. I’ll bet you’ve felt the same way and wished you could find someone who shared your passion for fine craftsmanship and attention to detail. |

Surroundings by Michael was registered as a Limited Liability Company (LLC) with the Minnesota Secretary of State in June, 2005.
After years of rushing home at the end of each day at the office anxious to do what excited me most, which was to work on my own home improvement projects, I gradually began to offer my services to friends, and in 2004 decided to do the work that I really love doing on a full-time basis. Now, with dozens of satisfied customers to my credit, Surroundings is dedicated to exceeding customer expectations every single time. I focus exclusively on residential interiors, and I do them well. License Information: Drywall and Plaster (Trade Exclusion)
The Minnesota Commerce Department defines a number of building-related skill categories. Minnesota does not require contractors using skills from only one skill category to be licensed. Surroundings by Michael conforms to the Department's definition of a "Drywall and Plaster" contractor. This category includes painting, wallpapering, drywall installation and taping, as well as plaster. Since Surroundings performs only services from this skill category, no license is required. This is referred to as a 'trade exemption.' For more information click the link below.
